Patsy about Janet

I felt flattered when Janet McBride asked me to write the liner notes on this album.  Perhaps she felt like we girl yodelers should stick together because there aren't too many of us who are still "stickin' to our guns with a yodel".

I've been known and admiring Janet for several years already and have always loved her yodel.

What I look for in an album:  first is the artist, then the choice of songs and the background music.  I think it is very important to understand the words and I feel cheated when the background music overshadows the artist.  This album has all of these and a little bit more.  you can actually hear Janet's personality coming throughout, which is great.

When Reimar Binge joined Janet McBride and Dexter Johnson along with The Tennessee Valley Boys, who are all excellent musicians, in recording this album, he formed a perfect combination, which not only yodel fans will enjoy but all friends of real country & western music sounds.

I am very happy that we share the same recording company out of West Germany.  Reimar Binge reserves the labels CATTLE RECORDS and BINGE RECORDS for the older styles in country & western music.  I have been very happy with them.  Reimar has released my 6th album and I am sure Janet and her fans, who buy her albums on these labels will also be pleased.

If you are ever in Mesquite, Texas,(near Dallas) on a Saturday nite, drop in on the Mesquite Opry [Patsy wrote this in 1986, when Janet and her husband, John, still owned and operated that opry].  You will have the time of your life.  It sounds like the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee used to sound.  You will see a cute little blonde fronting the stage and one of the best bands in Texas.  You can soon tell who is the boss lady.

Here's my advice on how to yodel.  "First get a ten acre field and then let 'er go".  If it is true what Bob Wermann of "The Tennessean" (Nashville paper) wrote, that "Patsy Montana broke the ice for other girls to follow", then I am very happy to have been a little inspiration to Janet.  The lost art of yodeling is still in good hands.

Those of you who obtain this album, turn it on and sit back and really listen.  If you don't like it, I promise to quit yodeling.

Signed with country love,

Patsy Montana
